The climber's passion
At age 15 Marty Molitoris fell in love with mountain climbing. In 1996, after several years as an independent guide, Marty started Alpine Endeavors. Today he’s still doing what he loves, year-round. His company leads rock, ice, and alpine climbing endeavors, along with guided hikes and snowshoeing trips, various training courses, and team building events.
Based in New York's Catskill Mountains, Alpine Endeavors serves approximately 2,000 people each year all over the U.S. with four full-time employees and another 15+ part-timers.
A business on the go
Managing 20 staff members, thousands of clients, and a virtual office is quite the undertaking. Before Front Desk, Marty tried a number of different systems to manage Alpine Endeavors on the go. Working alongside the clunky software was an employee whose sole job was to transfer important information from paper documents, like waivers and billing information, into a tracking system—not the most secure, cost-friendly or efficient process!
He knew that continuing his success and still having time for his family would be nearly impossible with the limitations of desktop-based software.
“My business is inherently mobile, and because Front Desk gets this, my company runs as smoothly as it possibly can.”
As soon as Front Desk launched, Marty didn’t hesitate to move his entire business onto the new mobile-first and flexible solution. He found that Front Desk works with Alpine Endeavors unlike past solutions that made it feel like they were working for the system.
That top-of-the-mountain tranquility
Alpine Endeavors smoothed out data organization and scheduling with Front Desk by having clients book and fill out waivers online. He says, “With Front Desk, our clients can book online and fill out our forms before their activity. But more importantly for us, they can do this at the meeting point, the trailhead, or on top of a mountain if they need to. My business is inherently mobile, and because Front Desk gets this, my company runs as smoothly as it possibly can.” Online document storage completely eliminated the time spent transferring those details, greatly decreased recording errors, and spared Marty and company hours of drudgery.
In the mountaineering business, weather plays a huge role. Due to inclement weather, they often have to cancel trips, but with Front Desk there is no longer a scramble to refund clients. Marty told us that with the ability to simply process refunds, his team is saving hours each month that they had spent return payments manually.
